• Introduction to the Internet
  Obviously there wouldn't be many web pages without the Internet. But what is it? What is is the difference between DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, a web server and all the other stuff that makes up this super highway?
• Using HTML and CSS
  The building blocks of every web page are the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Basically, when all is said and done, 90% of what a user actually sees is comprised of these two items.

Programming Languages

• Java - Java, in and of itself is not a web specific language. It is a powerful standalone language capable of creating Desktop applications, Browser based applications (Applets), or full web server applications. Web development concentrates on applets and full web server applications.

• .Net Language - Microsoft's latest web development environment is focused around its .net framework. There are several languages used to develop web server based applications.

Choose one (or more) language(s) from the following. On the lighter side, these languages are more closely related to web development. While they can be just as complete as the languages listed above, they tend to have a more "web development feel."

PRINTER

Networks are able to use one printer for numerous computers. This allows many individual computers to access a single network printer. This saves money and space for the organization.

DATA

Once networks were setup, people found that the next best thing was the ability to easily share documents. The type of server that stores files is called a file server. Data can be in the form of text, images, numbers or characters.

PROGRAMS

Server or Network based programs are programs that are loaded on to an online server or network as opposed to directly onto the individual computers. This program can therefor be accessed by any computer possessing the correct amount of bandwidth and system specifications. In short, it uses the server as an application server.

WORK BETTER

Organizations use networks for many purposes, such as making schedules for colleagues, picking up days for meetings (when everybody will be able to attend) and providing useful online connections for network-linked employees.

Employees can communicate on a network with other employees through email.
